Berlin - The flow of skilled workers and students from abroad to Germany is not coming to a halt. Hundreds of thousands are looking to find their luck in the Federal Republic, driven by the high level of unemployment in their home countries. This is a godsend for the German companies suffering from a shortage of skilled labour that are desperately looking for staff, which they mostly cannot find in the local employment market. They not only attract foreign skilled workers with permanent jobs and good salaries, but also happily assume the costs for the necessary language courses ever more often.
In fact, the current migration situation in the EU is leading to a greater demand for German as a foreign language. Against this background, the LinguaTV E-learning specialists have now extended their language-learning platform to include audiovisual online German courses. A total of eight new courses for all levels from Beginner (A1) to Advanced (B2) are now available for internet users who want to learn German quickly and effectively. “This is the start of a total of nine courses we are creating in this area, which will cover a volume of 171 lessons with over 200 videos and over 8,000 interactive exercises. With our course ''German at Work'' we even cater specifically to workers from abroad,'' LinguaTV CEO Phillip Gienandt explains.
He also refers to the positive quality-to-price ratio of the online language courses at LinguaTV, which should be especially interesting for those whose employers do not fund language training. "Even the employment agencies only provide financial support for courses up to level B1, which is unfortunately not always sufficient for a good entry into working life in Germany – depending on the job,” Phillip Gienandt points out.
Berlin – The vast majority of German workers are not fluent in business English even though they often work with international exports. “This is especially a problem for the SMEs, which is heavily dependent on foreign customers and they must compete globally. In the end, the highest quality products made in Germany amount to nothing, if they cannot be well communicated due to language barriers”, declares Philip Gienandt, Managing Director of the language platform LinguaTV.
He refers to the alarming numbers found in a study by the Association for Consumer Research (GfK). According to that, only 2.1 percent of the employees surveyed can speak fluent English. 65.5 percent admit that they have little knowledge. Many companies are becoming increasingly sensitive and are answering the problem by striving to offer language courses. The offer is usually received with open arms, as Philip Gienandt reports: “Language courses in this country are the most widely used training opportunity. Employees finally understand how important language skills are for business success and their career”.
With its language learning platform, LinguaTV already supports many companies of all sizes, from all industries, to meet a key challenge: the intelligent combination of language learning and careers. Everyday working life doesn’t often leave time for employees to participate in classroom activities to acquire language skills and great absences should be avoided. LinguaTV offers a flexible alternative. Through video-based online language courses and interactive exercises, participants can successfully continue their “Business English”, and other important languages, part-time. Also, LinguaTV already has German as a foreign language on offer for foreign employees.
The structure of the language course and the possibility of mobile use, makes it viable to integrate the offer into regular work life. So LinguaTV is not only available on the work computer, but also on all mobile devices and it can be used at every possible opportunity in any place. “This seamless integration of our courses into work life continually causes participants to fall back on our B2B section of the e-learning platform”, says managing directior Philip Gienandt about the growing demand for modern learning methods for the acquisition of language skills in the workplace.
Let’s hope that two thirds of the people surveyed in the GfK study take the opportunity to improve their low language skills. An offer like this is too good to miss.
Berlin / Karlsruhe – The LEARNTEC is one of the most important educational fairs in Europe. It is a meeting point for both E-learning providers and for professional educators alike. As such, the international trade fair from February 4th to 6th 2014 in Karlsruhe, puts the future of learning with IT, in the focus. By “future learning” you engage in a major topic that also plays an important role for the e-learning specialists of LinguaTV: The development of modern, sustainable techniques for learning foreign languages on the Internet.
At the united stand of the high-tech association BITKOM (E62.1) LinguaTV presents sophisticated online video languages courses, and thus gives insight into the direction of language learning via the Internet in the future: Audiovisual, individual, mobile and flexible. Special highlights of the fair presentation from LinguaTV will be the introduction of the beta-version of an innovative pronunciation trainer and the presentation of a new multimedia vocabulary trainer. In addition, visitors at LEARNTEC will be shown new learning content, including German as a Foreign Language and Technical English. By having such courses the E-learning specialists are responding to the growing demand and completing the courses for all levels.
“With the new features that we have developed for our audio-visual approach, which adapts to the individual learning progress of the users, we provide a sustainable language learning process for the future now”, explained LinguaTV Managing Director Philip Gienandt. Particularly in respect to the composition of the individual components, the company is once again one step ahead of traditional e-learning: As part of its video-language training, LinguaTV combines the acquisition of language skills – vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation – with native speakers, flexibility and sustainability.
Practical scenes and interactive exercises ensure that learned language knowledge can be applied and firmly set in ones memory. The mobile availability of the offer, without installation or app, also allows locally flexible language learning on a variety of devices. “LinguaTV can thus be used independently of time and location and be seamlessly integrated into everyday lives. Exactly how it works will be demonstrated at LEARNTEC”, announced Philip Gienandt. The language-learning platform currently offers courses in the foreign languages English, Spanish, French, Italian and German.

Berlin – Companies can now use new ways of training their employees with a course from LinguaTV.com as an app. In a time in which German companies are increasingly communicating in English – for example with foreign customers or business partners – the employees require linguistic qualifications. What has only been possible in the classroom through seminars or schools with a high cost, has now shifted to the mobile devices of employees, through the multimedia apps provided by LinguaTV.
Language courses such as “Business English” and “English on the Phone” are available anywhere and at any time, along with lessons and exercises on demand for your convenience: At work, home, on the road, or commuting by bus or train. "We combine innovative learning techniques with the advantages of the mobile Internet for well-rounded language training, in a modern way that is flexible – and cost saving for companies – that can be integrated into the everyday work of employees”, explained Philip Gienandt, Managing Director of Lingua TV GmbH (www.linguatv.com).
The language learning applications confront the user with realistic conversational situations that are acted by native speakers, in an audio-visual approach to learning. You train the correct pronunciation of vocabulary and further increase your knowledge of foreign languages by doing exercises such as multiple choice, gap texts and video quizzes, thus instilling what you’re learning. “The close proximity of the situations to everyday work puts employees in a position to implement knowledge of a new language more quickly into practice”, said the LinguaTV Managing Director. This quick return is further added value for companies who invest in the various apps “Business English”, “English for travel” and “English on the Phone”.
The latter is an especially good example: The comprehensive course of 10 lessons and around 400 exercises equips the user with authentic phone calls regarding key issues in professional practice – including the coordination of appointments, processing booking requests and receiving orders – specific to telephone, in English. The "Business English" training, however, shows the corporate life from abroad and covers several different areas of work such as sales, finance, purchasing and human resources, among others.
The language training courses from LinguaTV are available as apps for the iPhone and iPad, as well as web applications for all major operating systems and browsers for PC / Mac, smartphones and tablet PCs with the operating system Android.
Berlin / Brussels – The EU-Commission sees great opportunities for Information and Communication Technology in Education. The two commissioners, Neelie Kroes and Androulla Vassiliou, aim to create an appropriate training reform towards a new type of learning. Over the last two decades, the Internet has expanded into more and more areas of life. It is also being used increasingly for education and training. Therefore, teachers no longer act as classic gatekeepers, but rather as guides through the different ways of acquiring knowledge by digital means.
“Learn anywhere, anytime. Learn from customised offers rather than the standard. It is about the real integration of technology into the classroom of the 21st Century”, declared Neelie Kroes, EU-Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, regarding their vision. In the area of learning foreign languages this is already a reality. Language learning platforms such as LinguaTV.com already provide appropriate opportunities to seamlessly integrate the Internet as a medium into a variety of teaching methods. On top of everything else, the web-based video language courses from the Berlin E-Learning Specialists – without installing any Apps – are available on a variety of mobile devices.
“We are pleased that the policy now recognises the need for the integration of new information and communication technology into education and training. The opportunities that arise from this, we have demonstrated with our language learning platform for some time: Efficient learning from anywhere at any time – with greater flexibility and motivation” explained Philip Gienandt, Managing Director of LinguaTV GmbH. In this context, he welcomes the new reform proposals of the EU-Commission and hopes for a quick implementation.
Berlin, Germany - As one of the first online-language platforms, LinguaTV.com has optimised its offer for mobile use. The award-winning video-platform doesn’t even require the use of native apps.
"Our users can use the entire platform without any installation both at the computer and on the notebook, or even on the move via tablet and smartphone. Doing so, they can benefit from the same learning environment, the same functions and the identical contents”, declares Philip Gienandt, CEO of LinguaTV.com. LinguaTV realises the entire terminal adaptivity with HTML5. The system automatically recognises the terminal and operating system and delivers the appropriate format.
"With our mobile language courses, we also offer a professional, effective and entertaining way of learning English, Spanish, French, Italian and German as a foreign language on the road. The aim of our courses is to practice listening comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation in context and fix them firmly in mind”, says Philip Gienandt.
The video lessons provide realistic conversational language knowledge of foreign languages in a funny and memorable way. Interactive exercises in the form of multiple choice, gap text or video quiz will help to check the acquired knowledge and improve it. A pronunciation trainer and a vocabulary trainer, geared to the individual level, accompany the respective language course.
The e-learning specialists have not shied from hard work in the transition to the Mobile Learning: more than 1000 videos of the LinguaTV’s Language courses have been rendered and compressed again. Many interactive exercises were revised and reprogrammed to not depend on the use of Flash. “Doing so we provide a better availability of our services abroad and in structurally weaker areas without fast internet connection. Secondly, all content of LinguaTV are thus also available on all iOS devices from Apple that don’t support Flash”, adds Mr. Gienandt.
Berlin - Orlando / Berlin - Headquartered in Orlando, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) will educate employees of the hotel and the hospitality industry worldwide, linguistically with innovative online language courses from the German e-learning specialist, LinguaTV.
Both organisations have entered into an agreement on the use of the e-learning offer, which is specifically tailored to the hotel and tourism industry.
“We are thrilled about this partnership with LinguaTV and the possibility to introduce this innovative educational supply for our global clients working in the tourism industry." said Robert l. Steele III, CHA, President and Chief Operating Officer of AHLEI and continues "In our markets where English is not the native language, the hospitality industry will benefit thoroughly from the online learning modules provided by LinguaTV, whilst the employees learn how to communicate with English-speaking guests."
“We are very happy about AHLEI representing LinguaTV.com worldwide and thus creating the perfect link between our online language training and the international hotel and tourism industry.” said Philip Gienandt, CEO of LinguaTV, whose online language learning portal is enjoying increasing popularity in this branch of the industry.
More and more hotel companies rely on the innovative e-learning concept of LinguaTV in order to assist their employees getting language training and work under one roof. LinguaTV with its online language courses shifts the focus to the audiovisual language training. This special technique of language learning via the Internet is particularly sustainable, as the users acquire knowledge about everyday situations, which are covered in the videos. Thus, the practice-relevant formulations and vocabulary that is contained in the dialogues, sticks better in their memories. The online video language training of the modular lessons is complemented with interactive exercises for training pronunciation, listening comprehension, vocabulary, spelling and grammar.
Specifically for the use of language training in the hospitality industry, LinguaTV has developed an industry-specific online course in cooperation with DEHOGA Berlin. In the course "English for Hotel and Tourism", which will now also be sold worldwide by AHLEI, classic situations of everyday hotel life are in focus: From a telephone customer request, room booking, the friendly welcome of the guest at the front desk and ordering in a restaurant, through to dealing with complaints, the recommendation of tourist attractions and small talk with the guest.
Thus, LinguaTV and AHLEI allow successful, practical language training from anywhere. The users can divide the lessons themselves and adjust the various learning content to their individual schedule. Incidentally, the lessons can - along with interactive exercises - be utilised while on the road. All multi-media units of the language courses are available not only on PC but also with mobile devices on-demand. Thanks to LinguaTV, language learning via smartphones or tablet PCs is even more flexible - both in spatial and temporal terms - which has a positive impact on everyday hotel life.
Berlin - Dead live longer. This old adage proves true for German language as a result of the economic crisis. A few years ago learning German as a foreign language was a discontinued model, but today schools and teachers as well as e-learning courses are now faced with a rapidly growing demand. "The sales of our web-based audiovisual German courses are booming" confirms Philip Gienandt, managing director of online language learning platform LinguaTV, the positive trend.
This is primarily driven by the influx of people from the Euro-crisis states. In countries like Spain, Portugal and Italy, youth unemployment is at a record high. Especially well-educated, young people increasingly turn their home's back and looking for their chance to be abroad - and especially in Germany, where many jobs even stay vacant due to a lack of skilled workers. The numbers of schools such as the prestigious Goethe Institute show: in Spain alone 35 percent more people signed-in for German courses in the past year, in Portugal, it was 20 and 14 percent in Italy. "We also feel the growing demand especially from the Southern European countries. Since German teachers are missing and many schools are now overcrowded, our online courses provide a good alternative and ideal supplement for many people willing to learn German online," says Philip Gienandt.
With its language training service LinguaTV.com offers especially for German companies the opportunity to capitalize on the growing interest of European specialists in employment in Germany. "We see that more and more companies are seizing the opportunity to recruit skilled workers from other European countries. The development of their linguistic skills is an important step for a successful, operational integration. With the practical relevant language video courses "German as a Foreign Language" and "Business German" – available as online course and as mobile app – improving your German skills is possible for everybody, anytime and everywhere, virtually during operation, in an efficient and sustainable way, "said the e-learning expert.

As of today, the LinguaTV team is delighted to be able to present its new online language learning platform with new videos and a new and chic design.
Based on the many excellent suggestions from our users and from experienced experts, we have not only developed visually, but also technologically, and are now able to offer you numerous additional functions and features.
For example, there is now a personal learning progress control and a recommendation system which helps the learner to target and develop those skills which are specific to his individual needs. The video player also demonstrates, alongside the old, well-known functions, such as subtitles and transcripts which can be shown or hidden from view, innovative new features: for example, the repeat button lets the user play back single sentences or complete text sections as often as he likes, until he has understood every word and perfected his pronunciation.
In addition, the platform has been expanded to include a download area, where the learner has access to various types of file (PDF, MP3, etc.). These act as a useful complement to the video lessons. As of today, we will be providing the transcripts and additional learning materials for your courses. Furthermore, LinguaTV’s video language training is also going to be expanded with a new group functionality. Here it will be possible for the learner to get together with other LinguaTV users to do things like discuss the platform’s learning content or compare points tallies. This makes learning together even more fun and motivating.
Alongside the platform’s new features, LinguaTV now also has a broader range of video language courses. Beginners with only a little prior knowledge can use entertaining learning crime thrillers to help them get started in the English, French, Italian and Spanish languages. For advanced English learners, there are special courses in Business English which deal with a variety of themes such as holding presentations, conducting meetings and negotiations, communicating, engaging in small talk, and so on.
We recommend all our visitors, old and new, to register here and discover all the advantages the new language learning platform has to offer.
For further questions about our new “outfit“ and the new features, we are happy to take your calls or answer your e-mails at any time.
