The MEDEA Award for Creativity and Innovation, set up to coincide with the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009 to encourage participation from teachers and learners and intended to highlight creative and innovative use of media in education. The European Collaboration Award in educational media production and use will recognise excellent productions and projects that come about as a result of European cross-border collaboration.
The MEDEA Awards has been set up as a not-for-profit organisation to recognise and reward excellence in the field of media-enhanced learning in Europe. The founders of the MEDEA Awards were brought together by their wish to promote the use of media and video in education and their desire to encourage educators and trainers to benefit from the advantages of integrating new technologies and video in the curriculum. The MEDEA Awards were launched in November 2007 and is supported by European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP).
