Mobile coaching in language training
Individual learning support offers an optimal complement to self-study courses and teaching in the virtual classroom
The demands on modern language training have increased enormously in recent years: In addition to high-quality learning content, what is expected today is above all a high degree of flexibility and individual adaptation. Mobile Coaching offers a promising solution for this.

What services and benefits can learners expect from this? "The language coach is a personal contact who supports the learner both pedagogically and technically on the path of language acquisition," says Gienandt. Mobile coaching can be roughly divided into three areas: Introduction, passive and active support. The introduction to the self-learning course is of particular importance. Especially for learners with less technical experience, the coach can provide important assistance here. In the conversation, a reasonable learning goal can then be set together and an individually optimized learning strategy can be worked out.
After the successful introduction, the learner usually works largely independently. If they have questions about technology or learning content, they can contact their coach by e-mail, phone or chat. Here, personal contact helps to lower the inhibition threshold and promote the learner's motivation. As additional assistance, the language coach also offers active pedagogical support. To this end, the language coach obtains insight into the respective learning data and can thus recognize the learning progress as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the learner at an early stage. At regular intervals, the coach contacts the learner, provides feedback and learning tips, or inquires whether there are any problems. If necessary, the coach can also point out certain learning units and assign them to the learner as homework.
Conclusion:
Especially for less autonomous learners, mobile coaching is an optimal solution. As a supplement to self-learning courses, it can be easily integrated into a blended learning concept and can thus make an important contribution to successful language training.
