Digital language training wins UN World Summit Award Germany
LinguaTV's language training programme for Deutsche Post DHL Group employees has now been honoured with the national World Summit Award Germany in the Learning & Education category, and will be representing Germany in the race for the worldwide WSA Global Award of the United Nations.
The United Nations (UN) World Summit Awards (WSA) aim to promote the best digital solutions that are relevant to society. Established in 2003, the prestigious award aims to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals agenda by recognising local digital content that impacts society and showcases the richness and diversity of innovative applications. The World Summit Awards are organised into numerous committees in over 180 countries. With around 300 projects submitted each year and a total of 25 international winners to date, the WSA Germany is one of the most successful, but also one of the most fiercely contested national WSA competitions.
This year's World Summit Award Germany in the "Learning & Education" category goes to Deutsche Post DHL Group and LinguaTV GmbH. The award recognises LinguaTV's mobile language training for Deutsche Post DHL Group's letter and parcel delivery staff, who use the LinguaTV app to improve their German language skills. In addition to the general German courses, new vocabulary trainers and video lessons with company-specific content were created especially for this purpose. Thanks to the conversation trainer function, learners can prepare themselves specifically for typical situations in their everyday working life and improve their active speaking skills in the process.
The mobile German courses also rely on micro learning - i.e. small and didactically easy to consume "learning bites" - so that even short time slots in everyday working life can be used effectively for language training. The training programme is rounded off with a special onboarding process developed specifically for this target group. The overwhelmingly positive feedback shows that this training concept is very well received by the learners.
The WSA Germany panel of experts is not alone in its assessment. Four other awards, including the international IELA Award 2023 and the German eLearning AWARD 2022, underline the exceptional quality of this digital training project. In addition to winning the national competition, the collaboration between LinguaTV and Deutsche Post DHL Group has now been nominated for the WSA shortlist and will represent Germany in this year's international competition for the global World Summit Awards.
