In 2006, a personal experience gave rise to a vision that continues to have an impact today
LinguaTV was founded by Sandra Gasber and Philip Gienandt with the aim of making language learning new, more practical, and more efficient. Sandra had experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to learn a language in everyday working life and was looking for a flexible solution that could be easily integrated into a busy schedule – without compulsory attendance and rigid course times. This idea led to the creation of a training platform that rethinks language learning.
What began as an idea quickly developed into an ambitious project: LinguaTV combined professionally produced video lessons, interactive exercises, and a global community into a unique learning concept. Language skills were no longer practiced in an abstract way, but presented in realistic situations—with scenes from everyday life and the world of work, spoken by native speakers and supplemented by didactically sound content.
LinguaTV enjoyed great success right from the start.
The platform has received numerous international awards, including UNESCO's World Summit Award for outstanding electronic learning content worldwide, the Comenius EduMedia Seal for excellent multimedia educational products, and the International E-Learning Association's Gold Award for the best mobile learning experience.
