FAQ: Coronavirus and E-Learning

In recent weeks, we have received quite a lot of inquiries concerning the Coronavirus and its implications for our language courses, as well as education and training in general. Since this may be a matter of interest to you as well, please allow us to share our answers with you.

Are you able to continue your language learning during steadily rising virus infection rates?

Yes, we are. One of the advantages of using e-learning and our virtual classroom is the possibility of learning and having lessons irrespective of a fixed location. You continue to enjoy access to all our language courses 24/7 both via our browser-based learning platform as well as our app. Additionally, we continue to provide experienced teachers on the phone and via video-link to ensure that you can take your classes with no need for any personal contact.

Another advantage is our worldwide LinguaTV network of teachers. Since we have a large selection (more than in your immediate area) of experienced teachers suited to your personal needs, we can compensate for illness-related shortages. Thanks to a personal training plan and documented learning history, we can carry on teaching your employees and maintain the complete training process efficiently with no need for physical contact. We are therefore not affected by quarantine restrictions.

We limit all personal appointments to a minimum as the health of our customers and employees is of the utmost importance to us.

Does learning a language even make sense at the moment?

This is a good and important question that many companies are asking. In principle, interruptions in the process of learning a foreign language are not a good idea because the rate of forgetfulness has a counterproductive effect – you probably know this from your own experience. Experts estimate that, by working from home, on average 60 minutes or more per day are “saved” due to not having to commute to work.

Could you find a better use for this saved time than learning a language? ;-)

But seriously, with LinguaTV’s short, modular teaching materials, it is easier than ever to integrate language learning into the daily work routine (keyword: micro learning). And if, as most health experts predict, the most difficult phase will be over in the next 8 to 12 weeks, along with the immediate consequences of delivery bottlenecks and sales shortages, it will only become more difficult to find time for learning a language. If not now, when?

From our point of view: an opportunity

On the grounds of growing concerns about safety, some companies have already cancelled all their training events. This means that they remain inactive while their competitors calmly use the time to gain an edge. If e-learning has until recently faced acceptance problems in your company, now could be the right time to encourage your team to reconsider.

Take this opportunity and try something new. Give LinguaTV a try.

By combining well-established teaching methods with attractive and relevant materials and innovative technology, we can help you not only to sustain, but also to optimise your language learning process.
