EdTech Award 2020 for language learning app by LinguaTV
LinguaTV's popular language learning app has once again been awarded - with the EdTechAward 2020 in the category "mobile app solutions". The experts of the EdTech Digest were particularly convinced by the attractive training content, the user-friendly handling and the embedding in the overall didactic concept and chose LinguaTV as the winner of the EdTech Award 2020. For 10 years now, the EdTech Award has been honouring significant innovations that contribute to the transformation of learning and teaching with the help of new technologies.
The renowned committee thereby rewards "the best and outstanding innovators and trendsetters in the EdTech industry". This underlines in particular the increasing importance of language learning offers that are flexible in terms of time and place against the background of the drastic consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic on the traditional, still analogous and very rigid educational systems.
Innovative mix of methods inspires the jury
EdTech Digest's Editor-in-Chief, Victor Rivero, who leads the selection process, congratulated the winner and emphasized "the important contribution of the entire LinguaTV team in driving learning, especially in these times. In the opinion of the jury, the LinguaTV app fulfils precisely these criteria - the seamless integration of classic methods of language acquisition such as vocabulary cards, grammar tutorials and listening comprehension exercises with innovative formats such as scenic learning videos and a wide range of interactive learning games that allow many different language skills to be trained, results in an overall picture that is as versatile as it is individually adaptable to the individual learner - and can be used across terminals in the LinguaTV app and the browser-based LinguaTV learning platform.
A real unique selling point is the conversation trainer, which solves a common problem of technology-based self-learning solutions: The lack of active use of the target language. With this function, the learners take on the role of a speaker and can thus participate directly in learning dialogues. Through the integrated speech recognition they receive immediate feedback on their pronunciation and intonation.
Blended Learning & Teaching
A big advantage of the app, especially for company training, is its enormous flexibility and the embedding in LinguaTV's overall didactic concept of blended learning and teaching. It is flexible in that the app can be used on its own without any problems and makes sense, but the combination with other elements according to the principle of blended learning produces a result that is greater than the sum of its parts.
